Live music at Bridgwater Arts Centre.
Last night, Friday 21st April, I went down to my favourite local music venue Bridgwater Arts Centre to see a relatively unknown band play. [see the photo ] They are Ollie West and the Wild Flowers. Led by Ollie West, the band consist of Ollie himself [vocals, piano/keyboards, guitar and ukulele] , Ashley Garrod [fretless bass and vocals], Aninca Nesporova [violin, mandolin, vocals and small percussion], Nat Martin, [Tenor Horn, keyboards and vocals], James Cooke, [guitar], and Pete Leaver [drums]play. They opened the show with "Carrie" [check out their YouTube video of the song, but seeing them playing it live is even better, I had the balcony at the Arts Centre all to myself and danced all the way through the song. One of the nice things about their music is that it is difficult to pigeonhole; it does not fall neatly into any category as far as I can tell and I think that is good. A thoroughly enjoyable performance with for me one of the other highlights other than the first opening song was Pete Leaver's drum solo.
