Book signing at Minehead station on the West Somerset railway.
Claire Rosemary Jane will be carrying out a reading from “Chloe's Extraordinary Telescope" at Minehead station on the West Somerset Railway on Saturday June the 3rd at 11:45 AM. Claire will be travelling down to Minehead on the train from Bishops Lydeard. She will have a number of books available for people to have signed. It is planned to film the reading and book signing and to put the result onto YouTube. It is intended to have one of the steam engines in the background as a suitable backdrop to the section of the book which Claire will be reading.
People of all ages are invited to come to listen to the reading. An involvement with railways is very much a result of Claire's father who was absolutely passionate about trains of all sorts, both full size and model. It does lead to something of a contradiction in Claire's life though as steam engines are not considered to be particularly environmentally friendly. The problem here is that steam trains also give a lot of pleasure to a lot of people, and the whole matter of climate change could be described as a matter of getting the balance right, in order to try to get to a carbon net-zero situation in the world as a whole.
The photo shows my Dad having a footplate ride on the West Somerset Railway as his 90th birthday present.
